Biographies are said to "bridge the gap between historical fiction and informational text." Typically, a biography can be divided in two parts: characterization and theme.
Characterization
Dignifies the fact that people change over time and because of this, he/she uses this opportunity to change as motivation to overcome adversity.
Theme
The reason/purpose the author composes the text in the first place. Examples of themes often found in biographies consist of struggles for freedom, sharing one's talents, overcoming difficult circumstances, and working hard to persevere during tough times.
For this project, you will use the graphic organizers we created together to drive your research. Within our classroom you will have access to a variety of print resources, as well as, online resources that have been compiled and listed on the pages at the top of this blog. Following the gathering and organizing of this information, you will compose a multi-paragraph biography to share with the class. The final project might be typed (time permitting) and will incorporate an additional visual display such as a poster, timeline, or an illustration to correspond with each section of your written piece.
